St. Francis grabbed the win on Saturday and earned more along the way.
The Cougars defeated St. Xavier, 27-14, in Mid-States Football Association play. With the win, USF clinched a share of the Midwest Division title, as well as securing the automatic bid to the playoffs from the division. Even with a loss in next week’s finale, USF owns all the tie-breaker scenarios.
USF was led again by Joshua Kulka, who completed 29 of 43 passes for 312 yards and connected with his receivers for four touchdowns.
The Cougars were stellar on defense, as well. USF had six sacks, forced three fumbles and grabbed three interceptions.
USF closes out the regular season at Olivet Nazarene on Saturday, Nov. 16.
